TOPREGAL Produces U Steel Channel WIth Wide Range Of Materials

Raw materials properties comparison:

  • Q235 – A low carbon steel that is low cost but provides good strength. Commonly used for general purposes.
  • SS400 – A mild steel that is slightly stronger than Q235. At the same time, SS400 also provides decent strength at low cost.
  • S235 – A slightly higher grade steel that offers improved yield strength over Q235/SS400. However, it is much more expensive.
  • S355 – An even higher grade steel that has the highest strength of these options. It is also the most expensive.

Material cost comparison:

  • Q235 – Low cost, however, it is generally the cheapest option for parts of customers needs.
  • SS400 – It is slightly more expensive than Q235 steel.
  • S235 – Approximately it is about 10-20% higher cost than Q235/SS400.
  • S355 – It’s around 30-50% more costly than S235.

TOPREGAL Use Advanced Hot-rolled Technology For U Channel Productions

U channels are commonly produced through hot rolling. This involves passing a billet of steel between rolls at a high temperature to reduce the thickness and shape it into the desired cross sectional profile. Hot rolling is efficient for mass production and results in a smooth surface finish without expensive secondary operations.

Choice Of U Channel And C Channels Properly

  • U channel has an open side that allows cables/wires to pass through. C channel is completely enclosed.
  • A U-channel has a greater strength-to-weight ratio than a C-channel, but it’s more expensive and less practical for general fabrication.
  • For the same material and dimensions, C channel will be heavier than a U channel since it contains more metal.
  • U channel is easier to form/bend into curved shapes compared to C channel due to its open design. C channel may be harder to bend.
